"Hot sticky scenes, you know what I mean", the sun shone brightly as the season reached halfway and Blubbs?entertained a struggling Bishop Thornton side. Angry, looking to move Angry's boundaries to double figures,?chose to bat first after Captain Derrick Warfe made the wrong call and the roulette wheel was spinning to see?who was first out to the middle. Black twenty nine and it was Clubber Vassey's walking out to the middle with? The Sun Bed King at the top of the order, as Junior Clubber was near to making an appearance.

Blubbs got off to a flyer as Winton clattered the ball to all parts, showing Fisher the way?English?village cricket is played. The score?raced along and Winton soon notched up another fifty for the season as Vassey prepared to face his fifth delivery of the game. The?Blubbers brawler clobbered a few fours before setting up camp at the non-strikers end as Winton took over strike?for the next ten overs and Angry was looking pleased with the new batting line-up calculator he'd created.

Winton should have been back in the hut for seventy when an outside edge to Teflon Don behind the sticks went begging and Mr Sunbed had no hesitation in capitalising on the situation as the ball continued to sail out of the park.

The Thornton attack continued to take some pasty as Winton raced to another ton just after the drinks break and?Blubbs looked set to post a mammoth total as Angry and Sherman put the world to rights over in smugglers bay.

As Winton eased to one fifty, Vassey closed in on the half century and with still fifteen overs to go and two hundred on the board Angry was already pondering the bowling attack as the weary visitors continued to pick the ball out of the nettles.

Vassey notched up his maiden half century for Blubbs as Winton motored to a double century and Thornton started to wonder if they were going to get a wicket from the days play as the hosts moved towards three hundred and Arnies record score for Blubbs was well and truly smashed.

The opening partnership finally came to an end on the last ball of the forty fourth over, Winton failing to clear long on and Sowray making no mistake with the catch, three forty two for one but the damage had already been done.

One run later and Vassey was making his way back to the shed for eighty one when a mis-timed prod for one went straight to mid-wicket?and Plattsey had four balls to make his impact on the innings.

Bubba and Plattsey managed to add another five runs to the total as the innings closed and Thornton were looking at a massive three hundred and forty nine for victory.

As the tea interval came to an end so did Vasseys game, Mrs Vassey gave the order and off the keeper left, bound for HDH to see if junior was ready to make an appearance and Angry was left with ten men for the second half as he donned the Du Pont sponsored gloves to get the second half underway.

Winton got the?second half underway and three balls in Thornton?should?have been one down when Warfe nicked a simple catch to Bubba at first slip, the air turned a nice shade of blue as the ball hit the deck and Wintons tan turned red with rage.

Two overs later Winton got his man, extra bounce over Warfes head and off stump rattled to the ground, Warfe bowled by Winton and the visitors were four for one with plenty still to chase.

Angry was next to spill one, Paxton edging one off Frankie, Angry couldn't free his arms from the dustbin and another catch went begging behind the bat and the big Aussie was fuming. Three out of three followed shortly when Wray steered an outside edge to Bupa and as another catch went to ground the slips were starting to look like a BP disaster as Wintons cannon went off.

A stand of forty four finally came to and end and Frankie was in on the wickets when Wray failed to connect and as the bail sailed to the?boundary Bupa breathed a sigh of relief.

Another five on the total and Frankie was at it again, Sowray leg before for four and with still thirty overs to go?Angry was on the hunt for all six from the days play.

More drama behind the stick, another edge from Paxton straight to Angry another drop behind the sticks and Bungle was starting to wonder if Angry thought he was playing ping pong.

Plattsey finally showed Thornton someone in the team could catch when Paxton couldn't control Wintons pace and with four back in the hut and only sixty nine on the board the visitors were in deep trouble still one sixty shy of the batting point.

Eight overs into his spell and Winton was flagging, Plattsey got the nod from Angry and with five deliveries bowled the now depressed stand in keeper come Captain put down another bar of soap behind the sticks when Fisher nicked a pie straight into the slippery mitts.

More?scalps for Frankie as the wickets tumbled when Derrick failed to spot the slower delivery shortly followed by Fisher whose leading edge found it's way safely back to the?big?mans trusty trotters and Blubbs needed four wickets for a full house.

As Frankies pace started to run out Angry turned to Bubba to take over from the Woodyard End and the change?brought?wicket number seven as Bubba clattered the timbers and Sharp was shed bound for ten and with still nineteen overs remaining Thornton were looking for the paddles.

Plattsey was retired from the attack Angry finally offered Sherman a bowl from the River End, Sherman should have claimed wicket number eight three balls into the over, a looping moon ball tempting Chandler down the track, Chandler's eyes lit up but the glare from the sun was too much and the ball bounced through to vaseline Angry who also missed the ball and another chance went by the wayside.

Two overs later and Sherman was into over number two, out came the vol-au-vents and Chandler was once again taking a walk in the park, Angry finally managed to clutch onto the ball and off came the bails and Thornton were eight down with one forty four on the board.

As the Thornton innings crumbled away Bubba picked up his second of the day skittling Bell for twenty seven and Sherman secured the bowling point trapping Fountain in front for nought and with six points in the bag news of Riply's defeat saw Blubbs climb to the top spot for the first time this season.

Points: Blubberhouses 6, Bishop Thornton 0

Fielding Points: Bupa Boy (x2)

Fact of the day: Wearing gloves helps a keeper take catches. After this game, the team looked like needing half a dozen pairs of keeping gloves and a large bucket for Angry.

Angrys words of wisdom: Macca Macca Macca Macca Macca Macca Macca...
