With Blubbs sitting pretty third in the table Angry knew victory against this weeks visitors Pateley would be the only satisfactory result he would settle for, Sherman was late again waiting for Sophie the Sedated Scorer to finish spreading on her ginger war paint and Winton wandered down the hill even later after topping up his tan at "Rawdon Rays Salon". Bubba had prepared the latest minefield "The Demolition Deck" knowing anything around one fifty would be a challenging score to for either side and as the coin spun up a wrong call from the Pateley captain meant the visitors would be first to meet the wrath of tin can alley as Angry readied the crew for battle.

An expensive first over from Winton saw Pateley on eight as Frankie charged in to start the second over, the deck was on form and a low bouncing first delivery from the young convict had Pateley in trouble as Eglin went back onto the stumps and up went the finger, eight for one and Angry had a dream start as the Pateley number three unhappily made his way out to the middle a little earlier than he would have liked. Meanwhile Bubba began to wonder if looking for a love nest with Mrs Bubba was a good idea as the sounding of smashing plates from the kitchen rang round the ground.

It wasn't long before the Mad Aussie was back in the wickets, Blanchard next to depart as the ball jagged off the wicket finding a leading edge which Plattsey almost mis-judged but thanks to Wintons pre-match practice the Water Wizard plucked the ball from the sky and the visitors were two down with only eleven runs on show.

Winton finally slammed down a straight one with Pateley on on a meagre twenty four skittling the Pateley number four for three and with him making his way back to the closet the visitors looked in serious trouble.

The Pateley number five was next to taste Frankies frenzy, more movement off the seam and the stumps took another clattering and with four back in the shed and only thirty seven on the board Angry was hoping Blubbs would be chasing less than fifty for victory.

A brief stand of two all of a sutton came to an end and with the visitors still miles from a match winning score, Frankie clattering the stumps with his fifth straight ball of the spell and Angry was in heaven dreaming of his predictions spreadsheet and wondering if Blubbs could be king of the hill by the end of the weekend.

Goldsborough came to the wicket and after a few edgy boundaries began to think he was a batsman, taking the score to fifty nine but Sherman had the artillery on target. A simple straight delivery had Goldsborough back in the hut and the visitors six down.

Elmer Fudd came back into the attack to pick up some rabbits but Fryer had other ideas, hitting the tanned rabbit hunter out of the park.  Angry mixed up the attack, bringing on Bubba and Mario but to no avail as countless half volleys disappeared over the fence. Sherman came on and should have claimed the wicket of Chadwick but Bungle bungled a low catch in the covers in true Rob Greene style and the Pateley stonewall continued to mix his cement.

As Fryer passed fifty, Blubbs looked like they were undoing all Frankies hard work before Mario hit the stumps and Chadwick was on his way for forty eight after a forty over battle. As Bubba informed the team the paint was still dry, Mario got the wicket of Dent, knocking backs the sticks. A few shuffled singles later, Pateley ended on one sixty three for einght and in with a fighting chance.

After the tea interval Angry got the straws out and Winton once again found himself opening up the innings with a dis-heartened Gobby who mind was more on what make of roller-skates he wanted to do his new waitressing job at the Pateley "Pork N Pie" sandwich shop rather than scoring runs against his ex-club "the Bridge".

Winton got the innings off comfortably, effortlessly chipping a four over the pavilion before chipping a delivery to Eglin at midwicket and headed back to the hut for ten and Blubbs were not exactly off to a flyer.

Bubba the new man at three joined Gobby and started the difficult task of rebuilding the innings as Tin Can Alley resumed normal service and the ball cut, spun and seamed off the unpredictable deck.

With just over a hundred still needed for victory Gobby missed a straight a straight one from Thompson and the stumps shivered again in pain as Blubbs lost wicket number two with still plenty to do.

Plattsey the new man in at three tried to pick up the innings where Gobby left off but a mis-hit on-drive only succeeded in finding the fielder and as the visitors celebrated like a pack of demented wolves as Angry made his way out to the middle knowing he had a lot to do to secure the five much needed points from the game.

The Blubberhouses three and five soon knocked up the fifty partnership with Bubba smashing his way to another half century and the winning post was in sight as the score passed the hundred mark.

With still forty two needed for victory Blubbs started to wobble, Angry missing a straight one from Thompson and he was back in the hut for thirteen with only one extra boundary to add to his total. Pateley had more to celebrate fourteen runs later when Bubba mis-hit a pie from Eglin straight down the throat of square leg and Angrys smile was slowly wiped from his face knowing two more wickets would see Sherman at the crease and an all too familiar collapse was looming over the homeside.

Bungle joined Vassey in the middle and the score moved slowly towards the target, a text book top edge over the keeper had the visitors whinging and whining as Blubbs closed in on victory, Vassey stood his ground as the old school players from the Bridge moaned and groaned but there was little they could do, next over Bungle smashed Eglin out of the park making the scores level and it was almost job done for Blubbs, next ball it was all over as Bungle pushed the ball through cover calling Vassey through for the single and Angry had his win and an important five points from the game.

Points: Blubberhouses 5, Pateley Bridge 1

Fielding Points: Plattsey (2)

Fact of the day: Chelping at the opposition is a bit pointless when they only need seven runs to win with five wickets in the hut!

Earps words of wisdom:  Six byes.......no sorry four byes.....was it six?
