Ripley were the visitors for game nine of the season and on losing the toss Stonewall found himself working out this weeks batting order and with Bez Partridge and Arnie Dickinson back in the squad Stonewall had to think long and hard about the line up.

Stonewall was first to depart this week, nudging a catch delicately to slip and it was three for one, Sherman was already fearing the worst.

With all the college boys out on night manoeuvres in Bagdad Tichie was called back in from the 2nds to take the number three spot, it was hard work and the score had dribbled along to thirteen when an adventurous square cut from Tichie went straight to hand and Blubbs were two down.

Potter was the new man in and started off well, Angry had a few lucky escapes but the pair pushed the score along at a reasonable rate. Potter was looking in good nick reaching twenty six with some good hits over square leg, eventually Bob Brown decided two can play that game sending down a half tracker which looped over Potters bat straight onto middle stump and Blubbs were eighty one for three.

Bez was given number five slot, much to Arnies disgust but he hadn't been in long before the heavens opened up interrupting play for ten minutes and losing each side two overs.  The game resumed and so did the collapse, Bez cleaned up for one, Blubbs eighty two for four, and no happy Monday for the Kidderminster tree hugger.

Splinter was the fifth wicket to tumble after assisting Angry to add eight more to the score and finally Arnie got out to centre.

Angry finally gave up his wicket trying to force the run rate along, bowled for seventy two and with only five over's to go one hundred and twenty eight looked an unlikely winning total.

One twenty eight for six was soon one twenty eight for seven when Arnie holed out to long on and Sherman was joined by Gobby Bobby with three over's to go.

Amos was the last batsman to be called upon when Gobby mis-timed a cover drive sending a crisp bag to mid-off,  Blubbs finally ended up on one forty one for eight.

Sherman opened up the Blubbs attack, the first ball didn't bode too well at all, a lolloping half tracker was instantly dispatched through the covers for four and Stonewalls head was already in his hands. Ball one was soon forgotten though when ball three nipped through the gate removing the Ripley overseas for four, things looked up.

The wickets dried up and after ten over's Stonewall decided to bring Potter into the attack, first ball and Blubbs were thrown a lifeline, a full bunger on the stumps removed the Ripley number two then three balls later it was back to the shed for Biker after he nicked one behind to Hebb, Ripley forty one for three and still one hundred shy of the target.

Tichie took over from Sherman and Splinter replaced Potter as Stonewalls desperation for a wicket grew.

Stonewall brought himself back on as the game slowly ebbed away from the home team, a stunning one handed catch from Sherman picked up a consolation wicket for the suicidal skipper but it was all too late, Gobby Bobby turned his arm over for an over and almost picked up his premier first team scalp, unfortunately Bez was too busy sorting out his Kinky Afro and completely missed the catch which raced away for four and it was an all too familiar result for Blubbs.

Another week, another stuffing and Stonewalls army are starting to look like turkeys.
