On a sunny day, it was Hebb and Bupa boy Keighley who took charge after Stonewall couldn't play. Rumours that a missing shipment from Kipling prevented him from playing. With Bungle nowhere to be seen, Hebb won the toss and put Forest in to bat. Bungle appeared 5 minutes before the start and the new look first team strode onto the field.

Stonewall, Angry, Frankie, Splinter, Swing and even Sherman away meant the firsts resembled the seconds and, worse still, Bungle left to bungle the match report. The opening bowling of Chef and Bubba got the game under way. Chef was finding movement but it was Bubba with the break through, trapping Armstrong leg before with the score on five.

Chef dropped a simple caught and bowled before a snick to Hebb saw him claim Coote with the score on 19. Bubba made it 19-3 bowling Thompson with a jaffa, but some resistance from Horsman and Pyke meant Bupa had to turn to Gobby Bobby. Some clever footwork from Senior Hogg and Uncle Peter in the field kept the run rate down but with Blubbs needing a wicket, Bupa did the unthinkable and asked Bungle to warm up, which brought a smile back to the Forest team.

The board was steadily ticking along and Bupa was wondering where his next wicket was coming from when Bungle turned one through Pyke's gate and Forest were 74-4. It then became 74-5 as a quicker ball first up to Dickinson saw him trudging back to the hut and Bungle on a hat-trick. Sadly it wasn't to be, much to the delight of Clippi, who was happy his wallet was safe.

Bubba replaced Gobby Bobby and McFly Hogg replaced Bungle. After a mixed bag opening over from McFly, he let loose his own Kipling delivery, Horsman hitting a loopy full toss straight back to the grateful hands of the wannabe popstar. McFly got his 2nd victim, bowling T Coote for nought and with Forest on 120-7, the bowling point was near.

Gobby Bobby cleaned up Taylor and T Pyke to leave Forest nine down and Chef was brought back to replace McFly. 2 balls in and he got his man, Bradd skying to cover where Bupa ran back to claim the catch, much to the relief of the Blubbs players, as collision was imminent with an onrushing Bungle who stopped in time. The new look Blubbs side had bowled Forest out for 127.

After a hearty feast at tea, Bupa and newly promoted Bungle strode out to face the Forest attack. Runs came quickly before Coote bowled his own Kipling delivery to Bupa who hit straight to the waiting hands of midwicket. Bubba strode out to the wicket, looking determined, and was soon hitting the bowlers around. A bit of fortune for Bubba as a pull shot sailed to the deep mid-wicket, who only succeeded in palming the ball for 6.

It was Bungle's turn for some luck, a rank long hop from the spin of Thompson and Bungle managed a top edge that dropped just over the keepers head. 87 for 1 at drinks but its curse hit once again, after being dropped 4 times, Bubba edged the first ball after the restart to the juggling keeper and was out for 43. Arnie stroll to the wicket, but at the other end Bungle pulled Thompson for 6 then played round a straight one and was bowled for a seasons best of 37.

Arnie also missed a straight one and Blubbs were 100-4 and wobbling needing only 28 for victory. A brief partnership between Gobby Bobby and McFly looked promising before a call Sherman would have been proud of meant McFly had run himself out for 2 and Blubbs still needing 20.

Gobby, living up to his name, smashed a 4 to the cover boundary then turned to banter the opposing captain.

However a missed sweep from Chef saw him bowled and Senior Hogg out LBW saw Window Licker join Gobby at the crease. Runs dried up and frustration from Gobby saw him out LBW for 17 swinging at a straight delivery.

Hebb stroll out, and after a few tight overs a 2 from Hebb and a smashed 4 from Window Licker left Blubbs needing 3 to win. A full toss to Hebb and Blubbs thought it was game over but the diving efforts saw Thompson cling onto the catch in the deep and Blubbs 3 short of victory with Window Licker on strike and Uncle Peter at the other end. Hopes of victory were lost as Window Licker fell to a diving caught and bowled, Blubbs bowled out for 125.

Although the fielding and bowling was excellent, all 5 bowlers taking 2 wickets apiece, the batting needs some work, 9 wickets falling for 38 runs. Still, many positives can be taken into next week's game at Ripley, and with the return of some key players, it should be a promising match.
