Kirkby Malzeard Home

There were familiar faces at Hardisty Hill Le-Street for round ten of the season as Blubberhouses entertained Kirkby Malzeard, the sun was shining and it was good toss for Sherman to win who without hesitation elected to bat.

After much discussion Sherman announced that Winton was back in the top spot with Angry and the opening pair took to the field to start the Blubberhouses innings, Arnie wasn't happy already.

Winton got off to a quick but solid start, Angry held up the non-strikers end and the pair had soon passed the fifty partnership with only eight overs played.

It was Angry who departed the crease first, a looping pie from Pickles easily and safely found its way into the hands of cover and Blubbs were seventy four for one.

Bubba was the new man in, quickly getting off the mark and doing his best to try catch Winton but Winton was firing on all cylinders for once, passing fifty and looking like there was plenty more in the tank.

Bubba left the center after scoring fifteen, lobbing up another simple catch and it was Bupa's turn to bat, it was a brief innings and Blubbs were one forty seven for three with still plenty of overs to go.

Arnie joined Winton, Winton passed his maiden first team century but a momentary lack of concentration saw the stumps go over and it was one seventy one for four with a worrying fifteen overs still to go.

Laves and Arnie managed to push the score on another eight runs before disaster struck for the big man from Timble, missing a wide down leg and he was back in the hut for fifteen, being adjudged leg before.

Butch went seven, joining Laves, Laves became Pickle's second victim of the day, mistiming the grenade ball and Blubbs were six down and more worryingly Sherman was making his way out to the middle.

Tense times for Blubb as Sherman played and missed three overs in a row, finally the arms opened up, the ball sped skyward and landed safely in long off's hands, and at one ninety seven for seven the batting point was drifting away.

The bubble-o-meter was really boiling over next ball when Butch chucked his wicket away and the bucket of stumps in the changing room went flying and Sherman feared for not just his safety but the rest of the team as well.

Nine overs still to go and Mad Frankie accompanied by Splinter had to hold out for the point, they had other ideas, carving the ball all round the field, quickly adding another forty runs before Frankie lost leg stump and PIewalker had to survive for nine deliveries to secure the point.

Splinter continued his aggressive approach, crashing a four from the first delivery then running a single through mid wicket to leave Piewalker two balls to hold out, a leave outside off followed by a solid block from the final ball secured the point and Angry started to cool to a simmer for the second half with the visitors looking at two hundred and forty four for victory.

It was Winton all the way this week, after opening the batting he also decided he was opening the bowling and the second half got underway.

A spirited start from the visitors saw the runs come quick and fast and the board soon reached twenty one before Winton skittled Fraser for seven in the fifth over then three balls later the visiting skipper met the same fate as the stumps were rattled again and Krikby were twenty two for two.

Another twelve rums added to the total and Winton picked up his third, bowling Briscome for none it was looking like an early finish.

Laves hung his head in despair next over when Sherman put down Harford-Cross but it made no odds, Winton skittled him next over to claim his fourth and Kirby were starting to worry with only forty one on the board.

Wickets were tumbling every over for Winton, Atkinson missed a straight one and off stump went cartwheeling towards Butch behind the sticks, fifty six for five.

Fifty six for five was soon fifty six for six and the moody aussie had claimed a wicket, Kirk leg before for none.

Winton was back in the wickets the very next over, Butch snatching a thin edge from Abrar and at fifty eight for seven it was all but game over for the visitors.

Som resistance from Pickles but Winton claimed his seventh of the day knocking over the stumps again and Kirby were eight down and the Sun was beckoning.

Mad Frankie was brought into the attack when Laves had bowled out his seven, picking up the wicket of Abrar (M) with another leg before decision going the homesides way.

Winton was desperate to get the last wicket and pick up eight but it wasn't meant to be, a mix up between the final partnership and Sinfield ended up on the deck trying to get back to the strikers end, quick thinking by Bupa saw the ball end up in Butch's gloves. off went the bails and it was game over, another six for Sherman and hopefully a climb up the table.

Points: Blubberhouses 6, Kirkby Malzeard 0

Fielding Points: Butch, Sherman

Fact of the Day: Catches might win matches but dropping them also wins fielding points (sorry Laves).
