Helperby RevengeAs the second half of the season got under way it was Helperby visiting Pierres Park and with a good forecast and a new dry deck Angry was hoping to win the toss and have a bat as the temperature started to rise. A right call from the visiting captain and strangely Blubbs were in to bat for the first half of the game.........More
Ouseburn OverhaulAs the season reached the halfway point Angry found himself venturing across the countryside to take on table toppers Ouseburn for a tough match which Sherman was hoping would be rained off, and Crash Test Dummy wished Angry had never called him into the squad. Winning the toss Angry decided it might be best for Blubbs to field first and give Bubba time to shake off his whiplash, concussion, shock and sore finger after been thrown around Gazzas Gimp-mobile thirty minutes prior to arriving at the ground.........More
Wet Wicket Spoils Steam Rally TripRain, rain and more rain meant the trip to Masham looked doubtful at nine o'clock on Saturday morning, by twelve Angry got the call from the hosts saying the game was off due to ducks swimming on the sqaure and Sherman looked forward to a day painting the bathroom..........MoreAnother home fixture for Angry and it was Goldsborough who turned up to Peters Park for round sixteen of the season and Angry was hoping to claim at least five points from the days play and keep the pressure on for third place in the table. A warm overcast day which looked good for the swing attack saw Angry win the toss and stick the visitors in to bowl and Sherman was worried already as Angry and Bubba got the innings underway.
Blubbs got off to a steady start as the ball wobbled through the air and the openers struggled to show any aggression towards the weakened Goldsborough attack. It wasn't long before Sherman knew Angry had once again made the wrong decision batting first as Bubba was made his way off the field after five failed swishes outside off stump only succeeded in finding an edge behind to the keeper and with only nineteen on the board the "lack of runs machine" was back in the shed.
Winton joined Angry in the middle and they looked like getting the innings back on track as the score passed fifty for one, fifty five for one then became fifty five for two as Angry spooned up an easy catch to mid-on and Sherman knew what was coming over the horizon......"The Collapse Clan".
Seventy for three, Winton trapped leg before for twenty two and Angry was starting to fret, Bertie was next to depart caught for thirteen and Hoff quickly went the same way without troubling the scorers as he gave an easy return catch to the bowler and Blubbs didn't look like making it to a hundred as Angry's head exploded.
Bungle and Gobby managed to push the score up towards the hundred mark before one too many swings from Gobby saw the end of his innings as another ball failed to clear the fielders and with only ninety three in the board and six wickets back in the hut it was a gloomy outlook for the hosts as Vassey made his way out to the middle.
The Blubbs seven and nine pushed the score passed a hundred and things started to look up but frustration from Bungle and Goldsborough picked up wicket number seven and Blubbs looked like being all out for a very below par score.
Whacker and Vassey dug in steadily picking up runs from the Goldsborough attack hoping to give Winton something to bowl at as the overs ticked away. Whacker tried to up the ante with a few wild swings but the damp deck was taking any pace out of the ball, a flick to leg went sadly wrong as the six machine sent back an easy catch to the bowler and Blubbs were eight down with Sherman making his way out to middle and only Arnie left to grace the middle.
Vassey passed fifty and Sherman blocked out the other end as the visitors desperately tried to prise out the Blubberhouses tail, it wasn't going to be as the overs finally ran out and Arnie was left with pad rash never having batted at eleven in his long Blubberhouses career and the visitors were looking at one eighty seven for victory.
The Goldsborough run chase got under way as the second half began and it was steady progress for Saul and Cockle as the seam attack sprung into life. Six runs on the board and Winton got the breakthrough as Saul knocked a sharp catch to Bungle at short leg and the visitors were one down early in the innings.
The Boro two and three got the innings back on track picking off easy runs from Winton and Whacker, forty five on the board and wicket number two went to Whacker when Schneider missed a straight one and the stumps were dis-mantled down the track but Blubbs were still under the cosh as Ive took guard at four and Angry knew victory from here was in the balance.
Angry eventually turned to spin as the score neared the ninety mark with the visitors needing just over a hundred for victory, the change got the breakthrough, Sherman skittling Cockle for thirty two but with seven wickets in hand Goldsborough were favourites to take the points from the fixture.
Goldsborough continued to pile on the pressure as the score edged its way up towards the target, Bertie finally removed Ive for forty seven, nicking one behind to Vassey, but the damage was done and the visitors were on target for a shock victory at one forty five for five.
Eight runs later and Angry had a glimmer of hope when Bertie picked up his second of the day as Cummings holed out to Winton in the deep but Mackrill had other ideas as he continued to find the boundary.
Bertie was replaced by Gobby with late in the innings, the mouthy medium pacer picked up the wicket of Mackrill but with only eighteen runs required from five overs the game was still Goldsbororugh's for the taking.
An expensive over from Gobby and it was game over as the visitors cruised past the finishing post with eight balls remaining and an un-happy Angry led his team off the field to drown their sorrows at the Sun.
