Birstwith Away 2011Whirlwind Whacker Saves the Day
Torrential rain on Friday and a heavy shower on Saturday had the game in doubt as Blubbs travelled to Birstwith for this weeks fixture, after some consideration the umpires agreed a two thirty toss and a three o'clock start with thirty five over per side as Sherman and Heardie discussed barge trips around the countryside.........More
Ouseburn Away 2011Ouseburn Overhaul
As the season reached the halfway point Angry found himself venturing across the countryside to take on table toppers Ouseburn for a tough match which Sherman was hoping would be rained off, and Crash Test Dummy wished Angry had never called him into the squad. Winning the toss Angry decided it might be best for Blubbs to field first and give Bubba time to shake off his whiplash, concussion, shock and sore finger after been thrown around Gazzas Gimp-mobile thirty minutes prior to arriving at the ground.........More

Killinghall were the visitors at Brennan Ranch as week eight got under way and another cold miserable day had Angry hoping to win the toss and stick the opposition in to bat. No Bertie this week meant Fester was recalled into the first team for his birthday and Angry's present was a number eleven slot in the batting line up and fine leg at both ends.

The visiting captain made the wrong call as the coin hit the deck and Angry had his way as Blubbs trotted out onto the field to get on with the first half of the game. As usual Winton and Whacker opened up the bowling attack and Killinghall got off to a rocky start as Winton cleaned up the Killinghall number two in the third over and the visitors were four for one.

Four for one was soon five for two then six for three, Whacker skittled Williams and Winton trapped Whittaker in front of the sticks with neither batsman troubling the scorers and the visitors were in trouble with less than ten overs played.

There was a brief stand of thirty five before Whacker picked up his second of the day as Winton snapped up a sharp chance in the slips and with four wickets down Angry was hoping for an early tea.

Weary Winton took to the sidelines as Sherman came into the attack, Whacker finished another tight spell conceding only thirteen from twelve as Plattsey was brought into the attack quickly taking care of dangerman Danby in his second over as Killinghall crumbled to eighty five for five.

Six overs from wicketless Sherman and Angry decided to call on the Hoff to take over from the Woodyard End as Killinghall passed the hundred mark and Blubbs were starting to run out of time if the bowling point was to be claimed.

Plattsey was retired from the attack shortly after making way for Gobby and the change brought the wicket when Copley knocked up a simple catch to the Hoff and Killinghall were six down with one seventeen on the board.

With eight overs to go and still four wickets needed Angry knew he had to make a decision and Gobby was told to take a rest as the Rabbit Hunter reached for the cabinet and loaded the barrels.

Fudd lined up the sights and Base was on his way back to the hut for thirty four and Angry was only three wickets away from the bowling point.

Three overs to go and Hoff removed Thompson as Vassey managed to cling onto an edge behind the sticks and Killinghall were nailing up the shutters trying to hold off the Blubbs attack for the remaining seventeen deliveries.

Six ball remaining and just two wickets stood in the way of Angry's point, Hoff charged in and managed to get one straight as Wotherspoons sticks tumbled and Blubbs had five deliveries to remove the visitors number eleven.

A dot ball, a single, a dot ball and Hoff got his second delivery of the day on target, Ashman losing his middle stump and Hoff had three wickets in the bag but more importantly Blubbs picked up the elusive bowling point and were looking at one seven six for victory.

After the break Bubba and Hoff took to the crease to get the second half under way, two big appeals from the visitors had the lone official un-phased, two balls later and the Blubberhouses run machine was stomping back to the shed with nothing to his name and Angry was worried at none for one.

Two overs later and the Sheriff had more to worry about as Wotherspoon battered Hoffs sticks and at four for two Blubbs weren't off to the best of starts as the stand-in number three Vassey made his way out to the middle.

Fourteen overs into the game and Sherman decided he'd umpired enough as the coat was passed to Bubba who trudged to square leg donning the white jacket, a close call for a run out soon had Mr Lip replaced by brother Bungle as the visitors disputed the not out decision the game continued.

Gobby left the field two overs later trying to slog one over mid-off but falling short and Bubba was forgiven as the chuntering continued.

Winton was next at the crease joining Vassey and with still one forty needed for victory Blubbs still had much work to do to keep number four spot in their sights.

Vassey passed fifty shortly followed by Winton as Blubbs stepped on the gas, racing to one fifty two before Wotherspoon returned into the attack, skittling Winton for a respectable sixty three.

Nine runs later and Pattsey was next to depart after taking a stroll down the track and as the keeper took off the bails Plattsey was getting into the shower, five down and fifteen needed for victory.

Angry joined Vassey in the middle and with still twelve overs to go Blubbs looked favourite to take all six from the game, a few wild swishes from Vassey nearly ended his innings as Angry tried to calm the excited keeper down.

Thirty five overs into the game and it was all over as Angry clattered Wotherspoon for four and Blubbs picked up all six points from the game moving them up to forth in the table but still twenty points from safety in division one (or so Angry says).

Points: Blubberhouses 6, Killinghall 0

Fielding Points: Gobby (x2)

Fact of the day: As an umpire, drawing a square with your fingers signals the call of the third umpire to make a decision, Uncle Peter hasn't approved the purchase of this technology yet so technically......it's all his fault.

Champagne Moment: Bubba getting the marching orders from square leg after reluctantly umpiring in the first place.........have to remember that tactic!
