Ouseburn Away 2011Ouseburn Overhaul
As the season reached the halfway point Angry found himself venturing across the countryside to take on table toppers Ouseburn for a tough match which Sherman was hoping would be rained off, and Crash Test Dummy wished Angry had never called him into the squad. Winning the toss Angry decided it might be best for Blubbs to field first and give Bubba time to shake off his whiplash, concussion, shock and sore finger after been thrown around Gazzas Gimp-mobile thirty minutes prior to arriving at the ground.........More

Masham were the visitors to Brennan Cove as week three saw Blubbs looking forward to building on the previous week's victory - and Hasselhoff looking forward to scoring his first runs of the year. Frankie decided to make way this week as 'Whacker' Waqas made a return and Sherman decided to wait another week before handbag shopping.

Winton opened up and Heke tucked into some half volleys as the tanned bowler served up a buffet for the Masham batsman. Whilst Whacker kept things tight at one end, the runs flowed at the other and as the Masham openers notched up the hundred partnership Angry finally turned to Bertie and Mario to take the pace off the ball.

Bertie got the breakthrough first ball of his spell with the visitors sitting pretty on one hundred and one when Smith totally bamboozled by the spin nicked one to Whacker in the slips but Blubbs still had plenty of work to do to salvage the situation.

The Masham number three didn't hang around too long as Plattsey finally came to the party, a simple catch to Winton and Masham were two down with one hundred and twelve ?on the board.

The visitors continued to score at a steady rate and Bertie was replaced with Sherman at the Woodyard End with the promise from Angry that he'd get more than one over this week. Four overs and a few pies into his spell Sherman finally claimed his first scalp of the season, and Smith learnt not to go back on the Blubberhouses deck, Sherman wildly appealing for leg before as the ball rattled the stick and Masham were one forty one for three but still in the driving seat to post a big score with nearly twenty overs to play.

Another nineteen runs were added to the scoreboard before Blubbs picked up wicket number four, Smith backing into the stumps trying to keep out the "wrong un" from Plattsey and as the ball wrapped the pads the Pipe Wizard knew he'd got two in the bag.

The Masham batsmen kept on building on the total, another twenty saw the one eighty come up and also saw Plattsey pick up wicket number three Pickard missing a straight one and the timbers took another battering but with still five wickets in hand the bowling point was still a way off.

Heke kept on scoring at a steady rate passing his hundred and looking set for the day pasting Sherman for ten in two, as Sherman contemplated going back to fine leg for the rest of the innings Heke tried one slog too many, edging the ball straight to Whacker in the slips and Masham were six down with one ninety on the board and Sherman picked up wicket number two.

Sheldon was next to depart as Sherman levelled Plattseys three wickets with the visitors still sitting on one ninety and Angry was hoping to mop up the remaining three wickets as cheaply as possinble.

With the Masham tail now at the crease the crowd knew what was coming next and Winton was pushing the cartridges into his twelve?gauge and looking for the big ears of the rabbits. The Masham tail started to twitch before Winton removed Mills for fourteen but the overs were quickly running out and as the bowling point slipped from Angrys hand the visitors finished with a fairly respectable two twenty six for eight and Blubbs had it all to do in the second half.

As Blubbs started the second half Angry was hoping the team would get the runs out in the middle and not from Bungle's curry, four balls into the run chase and disaster struck early once again as Winton lobbed up an easy catch and Blubbs were one down with four on the board.

Bubba and Hasselhoff hurried the score on to forty three before Blubbs lost wicket number two and both openers were back in the hut when Hasselhoff felt the wrath of the slow low bouncing deck, trapped leg before for fourteen.

Bertie joined Bubba in the middle and Angry was still confident the target of two hundred and twenty seven was achievable but there were more problems for the Sheriff with the score on fifty nine when Bertie took one in the stomach and William Bonney drew the pistols from his holster.

Blubbs moved past the hundred mark as Plattsey and Bubba started to build a partnership and Angry was hoping the pair would steer the run chase home and secure the much needed five points. The Masham spin attack slowed down the runs and Plattsey started to struggle with the bat, still needing one hundred and seventeen from fifteen overs and the pressure finally got to the copper bending batsman who tried charging Smith, failing to get bat on ball and as the keeper whipped off the bails Plattsey was already half way back to the shed.

Only three more runs were added before the next wicket tumbled, an over-confident shot from Bubba who completely?missed?the ball and as the sticks rattled Angrys head was in his hands now knowing he needed a miracle if Blubbs were going to win the game.

Bungle joined Angry and the Blubbs six and seven steadily started to get the innings back on track as the score passed one fifty, another rash shot, another wicket as Bungled holed out and Blubbs looked like being all out well short of the target.

Whacker was the new man in and Winton was hoping for some big hitting to get Blubbs back into the game, seven runs later and an his was back in the hut without facing a ball as Angry claimed his first run out victim of the season and Vassey was in at nine.

Vassey and Angry fended off the Masham attack but the runs were drying up and with one eighty one on the board Vassey decided to take matters into his own hands, a wild flail at Chapman and old father time had another scalp in his pocket as the stumps took another beating.

Sherman was in at ten and after a quick chat out in the middle Angry pleaded with him not to get out, three balls later and the ball was headed down long off's throat and Sherman was in a panic, luckily the sun was low and the ball went to ground and Angry breathed a sigh of relief. As the over ticked by Sherman gave the odd chance here and there but Angry held his ground and as the forty fifth over came to an end the Sheriff had secured a point from the days play.

Points: Blubberhouses 1, Masham 5

Fielding Points: Vassey, Hasselhoff

Fact of the day: Dancing is best saved for after the game when you get into town..........Plattsey!
