Torrential rain on Friday and a heavy shower on Saturday had the game in doubt as Blubbs travelled to Birstwith for this weeks fixture, after some consideration the umpires agreed a two thirty toss and a three o'clock start with thirty five over per side as Sherman and Heardie discussed barge trips around the countryside.........More
Ouseburn Away 2011Ouseburn Overhaul

As final day of the season dawned there was only one thing on Shermans mind "I can't believe the seasons over already", with nothing to play for Angry decided to go for his much needed knee surgery to rebuild what was left of his LBW device and resigned himself to tea duties for the first time in fifteen years and the crew was expecting something special from the one legged wonder. A?d

With no leader of the pack Angry decided to put the captaincy to a poll eventually it was decided Hebb was the best man for the job and with a wrong call from the visiting captain the veteran sparky decided Blubbs would be batting first hoping Winton could reach the magical score of seventy one which would give him the record for most runs scored in any Nidderdale division since time began or at least the past few years.
With no random-o-meter available Hebb decided to use last weeks batting order and it was Vassey who joined Maccahouses in the middle to get the innings underway as play commenced. Winton was?definitely?on a mission attacking the Abbey attack from the outset as several chances went to ground the rest of the team wondered if Winton would reach twenty one let alone seventy one as Vassey propped his bat up at the non-strikers end eagerly waiting to face a ball.
The score raced to forty one inside five overs before Blubbs lost the first wicket of the day, Vassey jumping back onto his sticks and picking up leg before decision number eleven for the season and Bubba was making his way to the middle for his final innings of the season at three.
Winton continued his skyward attack of the visitors bowling, racing past fifty and closing in on his Holy Grail, Bubba started to find some late season form as the score raced past the hundred mark and Blubbs were looking to post a biggie for the hosts to chase down.
A big swipe from Winton and the crowd went wild as the one man team battered his way into the record books easing past the fifteen hundred and thirty run record and it was now time to put pedal to metal as Bubba notched up another half century and Blubbs cruised past two hundred with still eighteen overs to go.
Bubba was next to exit the auditorium, knocking back a simple caught and bowled and Blubbs were two down with two hundred and four on the board and yet again a drunken number four was staggering out to the middle to join Winton in the run crusade.
Glitter took to the Bolton bowling like a duck to water finally looking like he could bat as the score mounted, a lapse in concentration from Winton finally ended his innings with a massive sixteen hundred plus runs to his name for the season, wandering down the track to Midgley a miss with the bat gifted the Abbey stumper the prized scalp of the Blubberhouses one man army and Bungle was making his way out to the middle at five to continue the onslaught.
Glitter continued to punish any loose deliveries and Bungle knocked up a cameo twenty eight as the Blubbs four and five put on another ton plus stand rocketing the Blubbs total well over the three hundred mark. Lord came into the attack and Bungle sent the ball skyward, managing to pick out the only fielder without grease on his hands.
At three hundred and forty six for four with only a few overs left, Glitter looked to end the season with a ton, only it wasn't to be chipping the simplest of catches to the keeper and not even the gloved man could drop it and Glitter back to the hut for eighty five.
Bupa came and went, unable to build on the previous weeks' success, missing a straight delivery from Midgely and with four deliveries to go, Gazza walked out for his first debut first team innings. After blocking out the first three, Gazza hit the last one straight to mid wicket and charged like a raging bull towards a sleepy Frankie at the non-strikers end. The fielder took his eyes off the ball, and a four brought the innings to a close and Gazza his first runs of the season.
With the tea interval over and Angry's promises of curries, chilli, kebabs and beer well and truly washed away Hebb turned to Winton to open up the attack as Abbey stared at a massive three hundred and sixty for victory and the innings couldn't have started any worse for the visitors as Winton took care of Burton five balls into the innings, Frankie clinging onto a shell at gulley and with nothing on the board the visitors were in trouble.
Next over and Holme was walking back to the hut and Frankie was in the wickets as Bubba made no mistake taking a regulation catch and at none for two the Sun Inn was moving ever closer, Abbey finally got some runs on the board as the second over finished, Midgley clipping the big Aussie for four.
The visitors made a?brief?stand of thirty two from the first eleven overs before Maccahouses struck again trapping Midgley in front of the sticks for seventeen and it wasn't looking good for Abbey, Pell walked in and soon walked back out and Clippy was trembling as the one man team had two in two,?fortunately?for the Prez May managed to block out the next delivery and Wintons dreams of another hatrick went by the wayside.
Eight runs later and more disaster for the visitors as Mayo called for a quick single falling two yards short and at forty for five it was looking like an early finish as Angry popped his seventh can of the afternoon.
Hebb finally decided Winton had had enough of the limelight and Glitter was brought into the attack as the one man band made his way to sunbed corner, a double change from the new captain and Bubba was marking out his run up to take over from Frankie who needed to keep something in reserve in case there was any action later in the night.
Four overs passed and as Abbey passed the hundred mark Hebb was worried his beer might be getting warm, as Bubba took to the side lines Sherman was spinning up the turret to take over from the Woodyard End, the change brought the wicket as Sherman bowled slower and slower Crozier took a wild swing at one on the sticks and the sixth wicket fell with the score on one hundred and one.
As the Abbey innings crumbled, Sherman picked up forty from the season as Lord swiped at another?straight?one and over went the sticks again, with only three wickets to take Hebb turned to net bowlers Vassey and Bungle as Glitter and Sherman bowed out for the season.
Abbey added twenty five to the total before the ex-keeper removed Parkinson for twenty two knocking over the timbers quickly follwed by Eggleston five balls later for nought, knocking up a simple catch to Winton and the game was all but over.
As the Abbey nine and eleven?desperately tried to block out the Blubbs attack Hebb decided enough was enough and the Rabbit Hunter was warming up to take over from the River End, Wintons pace was too much for Holme and with the last three wickets falling for no runs the visitors finally conceded defeat as the timbers took another tickling and Bolton were all back in the hut for one twenty six and Angry was penning his resignation as the victorious Blubbs headed off into the sunset to see what the night would hold which actually was quite a lot wasn't it...........Bubba, Glitter, Frankie?
