Shermans Shack
Pateley Bridge Away
The Maccahouses fan club rolled up to Pateley Bridge, with all but Angry feeling worse for wear after various visits from Miss Stella Artois, Carl S. Berg and Captain Morgan to name but a few and the visitors changing room gave off a smell not too distinct from the tasting rooms at the Black Sheep brewery as an unhappy Captain hoped for the victory that would take him a hair's breadth from the title.
Burnt Yates Away
Angry's army rolled into Burnt Yates looking to defeat bottom of the league and maintain the top of the table spot. With Gobby Bobby away, Uncle Peter stepped in and a sober Blubbs team were all out together bowling first on a day with showers forecast later in the day. With no opening bowler available to assist Winton an excited Sherman looked to increase his lead over the machine at the top of the bowling averages, and Mario looked to forward to scoring a run.
Harrogate Strays Home
As week seventeen got underway Angry faced another big game as Harrogate Strays visited "the Cove" and with Ripley still in hot pursuit it was another must win fixture for the angry captain. As the Winton commenced the warm up Sherman staggered down the slope after spending the night entertaining Captain Morgan and Napolean B Randy and Angry knew his text from Friday night was a complete waste of time, moments later and Plattsey was rolling down the hill in a similar state wearing his sun-blinds to cover up the tell tale signs of a hangover.
Wham, Bam, Thank You Whixley!
A victory for Mario from the last game of the season secured Blubbs' division two spot for next season after the team had been tottering around the bottom of the table for most of the season and with only one point between the bottom four Mario was thirsty for a win (and a pint) against the Whixley Whingers. As Uncle Peter arrived at the ground rumours of Winton dropping out of the squad started to buzz round the ground, it was finally confirmed when a spokesman for Winton described him as being "too upset to play" after hearing the Rawdon tanning salon had gone into administration earlier in the day.
Ripley Away
With Daniels away, Glen Fiddich made an appearance on Friday night... and Sherman was hiding yet another hangover. Clearly still drunk from the previous night, Sherman showed a rare eagerness to get on with the pre-match fielding drills as Bubba prepared his bat for another onslaught with the floor.
Bishop Thornton Blues
Another defeat for Marios men this week at the hands of Bishop Thornton this week leaves Blubbs fighting for survival in division two with one game remaining in the season. Batting first Blubbs struggle to ninety eight for their twenty overs thanks largely to Piewalkers thirty runs in the closing overs of the innings.
Pannal 2nds Home
As Friday night blended into Saturday afternoon, Sherman knew he was in trouble, vague memories of texting Angry and Winton the night before flashed through his hazy mind and thoughts of Plattsey and Vassey laughing at his insulting texts to Winton did little to settle his head as he dragged his bag down the slope for the game against third in the table Pannal. A polite call from Angry two hours earlier had Sherman thinking everything was ok but it soon became clear it was only because Angry couldn't be bothered to do the teas and needed a mug to rush to Asda to prevent embarrassment for the club.
That Sinking Feeling
After another defeat this time against bottom of the pile Ribston, Sherman learnt a valuable lesson in journalism....not to sit and write tomorrow nights match report whilst watching the rain bounce off the decking! Torrential rain meant a late start for the tie and stand in captain Bupa Boy agreed on a sixteen over slog on the muddy pudding after losing the toss and finding himself taking the lads out to field first.
Burton Leonard Away
Angry was touting this weeks fixture as the biggest of the season as the fleet sailed to Burton Leonard for round fourteen of the season and with showers forecast for the afternoon it would be a good toss to win, Angry predicted the coin would land on it's edge and Blubbs found themselves batting first on a damp green deck which looked inviting for the bowling attack.
